Café Information

Café News and Updates for Meal Delivery Plan

  • Please visit rockdaleschoools.org for the scheduled time for your child to pick up their meals at the neighborhood bus stop.
  • Families are encouraged to apply for free or reduced-price meal benefits.  They may do so online (link on the RCPS website) or via a paper application.  Each bus route has paper applications, and each cafeteria has them as well.
  • Students will eat at their eligibility status, free, reduced-price, or paid.
  • Families with students at a paid status can deposit money online (link also on the website) or drop money off at school.  Our cafeteria staff will be onsite each day to receive any payments left at the front office.  We do not want our bus crews handling cash.
  • We will need to have the student(s) come to the bus and get meals.  This may mean that they need to miss a few minutes of instruction to run out to meet the bus.   Bus routes are getting quite close to the homes of students, which should minimize the time it will take to retrieve the meals.
  • The student will need to identify themselves and be checked off a roster.  Rosters have been built for each route based on our students who live on that route.  Daily updates will be made to the rosters during the first weeks of operation.
  • The crew will be delivering lunch for the day of delivery and breakfast for the next day.
  • Please be patient as the bus drivers learn this new route.

Accounts and Meal Programs

Families are now able to make payments to cafeteria accounts online, using www.myschoolbucks.comIf you know you may have an outstanding meal charge balance to close out, you may contact the school to make a payment. Please call the school and ask for your account balance. Thank you!

Additionally, our online application for free or reduced-price meals will also go live on August 1st. While school will be virtual, the school nutrition team will still be operating a school meal program. Although the serving line and dining room will change, school nutrition requirements, including those that govern free and reduced-price meal eligibility, will remain in place. The school nutrition team will go through the same process as they have in the past to determine eligibility.

Flat Shoals Elementary will be open to the public with required health and safety protocols in place. While adhering to social distancing practices and wearing a face mask, parents and guardians may visit the school by APPOINTMENT ONLY.  If you are interested in scheduling an appointment or requesting a phone conversation with Principal Degenhardt, please send an email to (mdegenhardt@rockdale.k12.ga.us).  Our building hours for appointments are 7:30 am – 3:30 pm Monday through Friday.

Thank you!
