Extracurricular Clubs & Activities

Art Club: Our Trash to Treasure project is going to focus on creating art from found or recycled items.  We will try to create artworks to display around the building especially in the outdoor spaces.  Students that attend will gain a knowledge that art is everywhere and can be created using any item as long as creativity and imagination is put to use.  This club is for 2nd and 3rd graders.

Dance Club: This club is for 3rd. 4th, and 5th grade students. Dance club focuses on the fundamentals of dance, and basic concepts to become a successful dancer. In this club students will be exposed to a variety of dance genres, including fun hip hop, traditional dance, and line dancing. The students learn how to cooperatively dance as a group as well as focus on individual talents.

Drama Club: This club is for 3rd. 4th, and 5th grade students. This club will focus on the elements of drama and how to incorporate it on stage. Students will participate in Reader’s Theater and exercises that will help them improve their acting skills through a variety of fun innovative activities.

FSE Funstangs: First and second graders, come participate in activities where you can fun with arts, crafts, play games, and become a better Mustang citizen! Build lifelong friendships and develop a sense of community through this unique club! FSE Funstangs would love to have you come be a part of the experience.

Math 24: Do you love math? Do you welcome a little friendly competition? Well then math 24 is the club for you! Math 24 is a fast-paced mathematics program which builds strong mental mathematics and problem-solving skills. The challenge is to create equations that total 24 by using all numbers on each card in any combination of addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. This club is for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.

Reading Bowl: The Reading Bowl team is a group of no more than ten 4th and 5th graders who are our very best readers.  They read the current Georgia Book Award nominees and compete in January against other Rockdale County elementary schools in the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl.  Our teams have brought two trophies back to FSE!

Science Club: The purpose of the Science Club is to provide an opportunity for 4th and 5th grade students to participate in a variety of engaging activities while applying science concepts and principles, as well as problem solving skills. In addition, students will engage in competitive and non-competitive events.

The club meets on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month.  Many of the hands-on activities are based on Science Olympiad, AIMS Education Foundation, and PBS Zoom Science program.
Past Science Club themes include: Chemistry: Mix It Up, Engineering: Design It, The Five Senses: Sense It, Patterns: Detect It, Forces & Energy: Move It, Life Science: Live It Up, “Candy” Science and National Pi (3.14) Day.

Spanish Club: This club is for 4th and 5th grade students. Spanish club focuses on the fundamentals learning the Spanish Language. Students will learn conversational language in Spanish, and learn about Spanish traditions, heritage, customs and values through many hands on activities and resources.
